We have had a wonderful week at school taking part in many activities such as dance, yoga, ju jitsu, baseball, football, athletics, Go Noodles, Bollywood dancing and lots more. Today we enjoyed Funky Feet Friday where our pupils wore any footwear they liked. Many of our pupils walked or cycled to school throughout the week and we thank you all for your participation. Thanks to all the teachers for their hard work and a special thanks to Ms. Harte , our Active School Co-ordinator for all of her work and her enthusiasm throughout!! All classes today took part in Ju-Jitsu classes with Nigel McArdle from Universal Gym in Ardee. Many of our pupils attend these lessons on a weekly basis and were able to demonstrate their skills. This was a new sport for a lot of pupils and they really enjoyed the day.
As part of our Active Week, all of our classes today took part in yoga classes. Pupils found this very enjoyable and relaxing.
As a very special surprise today all classes took part in Baseball lessons conducted by our visitors from Canada. Dr. Gary Pennington and Simon Pond , who plays for the Boston Red Sox coached us all today. It was a fantastic experience for all our pupils and we are very grateful to them for visiting us. We gave them a good old Irish send off and sang the National Anthem for them. We hope they will visit us again soon. Have a look at our photographs below!!!
Our 5th and 6th class have taken cycle safety lessons over the last 5 weeks and thoroughly enjoyed them. This is a skill which we hope will stand to them for the rest of their lives. All classes also took part in International Dance Day today to kick start our Active Week. Lots more to come during the week!!!
We are all very excited about our Active Week which takes place from Monday 25th - Friday 29th April. During this week we encourage as many pupils as possible to walk or cycle to school. There will be lots of fun activities throughout the week including Ju Jitsu, Yoga, Dance, Athletics, Gaelic and lots more. Next Friday 29th April is "Funky Feet Friday". All classes will take part in this and pupils may wear whatever footwear they wish, the wackier the better!!! For safety reasons we ask that pupils do not wear rollerskates or wheelies. Looking forward to a great week ahead. Keep an eye on the website for photos!!!
It was a wonderful experience on Wednesday 20th April when author Oisín McGann visited our school and spent the day with us. He spoke to all classes, told stories and conducted reading and writing workshops. He was a wonderful inspiration to all our pupils as they aspire to be great writers and readers. He also presented us with some wonderful drawings.
Reminder that all enrolment forms for new pupils wishing to start in Junior Infants 2016 should be returned to the school by this Friday 8th April 2016.
