Be Active ASAP!
As we are an Active School we have decided to hold a Be Active club after school for one hour on Mondays. This is a programme launched by the HSE and is aimed specifically at 1st and 2nd class. The programme is teacher led but parent run. We rely on parents to volunteer to take part in these activities. We sincerely thank our parent volunteers for their help with this club and we hope you enjoy it. If you are interested in helping out with this please let us know. Please browse through the photos below to get an idea of what activities take place.
The Be Active ASAP introduces children to fun physical activity in a safe, familiar, structured setting with emphasis on enjoyment, learning and variety of activity.
The programme aims to improve the attitudes of both children and their parents towards physical activity and lay the foundation for positive, lifelong physical activity habits.
The programme can positively enhance the child’s health-related fitness, skill development, self-esteem and confidence, attitude to school, life and learning, concentration, social development, overall well-being, posture, sleep and diet.
The Programme links with the Physical Education Curriculum, building on what
has been learned in class. It lasts for 1 hour after school one day a week. It
uses school facilities and is teacher led.
