September '18- Our school took part in the Be Active Tour of Europe Challenge. 2nd class ran to the Eiffel Tower in France (778km) and 3rd - 6th class ran to the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium in Madrid (1,447 km). We dressed in French and Spanish colours to celebrate reaching our destination. Well done to all! *Check out our Facebook page to see the video clip of all the participating classes.
October '18: Every class has starting taking part in "The Daily Mile" initiative. Six laps of our school is the equivalent to a mile. The children complete a mile everyday to keep our minds and bodies active and healthy. Well done everyone, keep it up!
Halloween '18: Today the children dressed up to celebrate Halloween. They went on a walk to show off the fantastic costumes and were hoping to scare some teachers!
November '18: Second class took part in a "Skipathon". Well Done to Cara and Stamatis for accumulating the highest number of skips. Keep up the hard work!
November 2018: As art of or Green School Project, 5th and 6th class helped to prepare a walkability audit of the village which focuses on how safe it is for children to walk to school. Children are encouraged to walk/ scoot/ cycle to school where and when possible.
December 2018: We were delighted to welcome Newtown United to our school today to show us their wonderful trophy. We were joined by Manager John Weldon, Captain Mark Dardis and players James Farrelly, Daire Rowe and Daragh Dunne (both past pupils of our school) Newtown United won the NEFL title in style beating Park Celtic 6-1 in their final game. Many of our pupils currently play with Newtown and new members from Drumconrath are always welcome! Our own Mr. Reid was also a great Newtown player. We thank them for visiting and congratulate them on their massive achievement.
December 2018: Our Santa Walk Today our whole school put on our Santa hats and went for a walk around Lough Bracken. We sang some Christmas songs and kept an eye out for Santa in the woods. Have a look at our slideshow. Happy Christmas Everyone!
January 2019: Our school is working towards our "Transport" Green School Flag this year. A green School Travel Education Officer Caroline Murphy visited our school to provide Scooting Workshops for Junior Infants up to Second Class. We hope this will encourage the children to be active and scoot to school if possible. Lots of fun and lots of safety tips provided! Thank you to Caroline 😊🛴
February 2019: This month we started off our active baskets. Each class will decide what they want in their baskets. Two class leaders will be chosen to be in charge of the baskets. The children are enjoying them on the playground.
February 2019: Well done to all 30 pupils who participated in our lunchtime Junior World Cup over the last number of weeks. Congratulations to Germany, the overall winners who beat Ireland in the final with a golden goal. 🏆😊
February 2019: 5th and 6th class had the opportunity to take part in a Cycling Workshop as part of our Green School initiative. We hope that this will encourage the children to keep active and cycle to school and other places when possible
March 2019: Well done to all who participated in our Champions League and to our winners 🙌 Barcelona beat Bayern Munich in our School Champions League final. 1-1 draw after extra time. 2-1 in penalty shoot out. Fantastic stuff.
March '19: Well Done to our girls soccer team who took part in the FAI Primary School 5's Programme in MDL in Navan. The team won all three of their games (8-0, 8-0, 7-0). They then took part in the quarter final where they again won 8-0. They progress now to the semi final which will take place on Wed 10th April. We are very proud of you all.
April '19: Congratulations to our two boys soccer teams who took part in the FAI 5 a-side competition in the MDL in Navan. Both teams played very well winning a number of games. Team A came 3rd in their group. Team B came 2nd and made it to the quarter finals where they were narrowly beaten. Well Done to all
April '19: Huge congratulations to our girl's soccer team who took part in the FAI Primary 5's Final today in Navan. They won their first two games (7-2 and 11-3). They then won their final game 9-1. They are now the FAI Meath Champions 2019 and will progress to the North Leinster Finals on 2nd May. Well done to all involved!
April' 19: 3rd and 4th class were very busy this week measuring the length of the school and the yard. It's important for children to be active during lessons as much as possible. Well Done!
May '19: Huge Congratulations to Eoghan who travelled to North Carolina over Easter to take part in the World Irish Dancing Championships. He is now an under 11 Worlds Céilí Champion. We were delighted when he brought in his fabulous trophy to show us. Well Done Eoghan!
May '19: **Breaking News** Well done to our girls soccer team who took part in the North Leinster Finals today. They are now the North Leinster Champions after beating Louth 5-3, Longford 4-3 and Westmeath 4-1. They progress to the Leinster Finals which takes place on the 16th May. Huge congratulations.
May 15th: WOW day- linked with Green Flag Today 114 of our pupils walked to school. Some children put on their funky feet for the walk. Well Done Everyone!
May 16th: Very well done to our wonderful girls soccer team who took part in the Leinster Final yesterday in the MDL in Navan. A super performance winning 2 games, drawing one and losing one. This placed them second. We are so delighted with their achievements and have enjoyed the excitement.
