Music in Drumconrath N.S
Music is very important in the school curriculum and in the life of any child. We aim to encourage all pupils to take part in school choirs, carol services etc. We hold a monthly assembly in the school. Each class has the opportunity to lead the assembly and thus enhance their confidence in performance. Our students also have the opprtunity to learn the tin whistle. We encourage our pupils to let us know if they play a musical instrument and we will try to involve them in our school choir and musical group. Our school choir sings at mass in Drumconrath Church once a month.
In 2013 we were delighted that our school choir sang in the Hallelujah Festival in the City West Hotel in Dublin. This choir involved all pupils from 4th, 5th and 6th class. It was a very memorable occasion and we really enjoyed ourselves!!! In 2015 and 2016 we really enjoyed taking part in the Peace Proms concert in the RDS. We sang with the Cross Border Orchestra of Ireland. It was a wonderful experience and we look forward to many more days out like this. Our next outing takes place this year in February 2017 where we will again participate in the Peace Proms concert.
