Our School Chronicle is complete and ready for printing, so the Christmas 2016 edition will be on sale on Monday 19thDecember. Hope you all enjoy reading the various sections and our school news.
Sixth Class had their Confirmation Enrolment Ceremony on the first day of Advent, as is tradition. We signed our names as they were read aloud in church and promised to prepare for Confirmation by praying, going to Mass each weekend and abiding by our Class Guidelines for Christian Living. It was a beautiful ceremony! Our parents, sponsors and family members were there to support us. Our Baptismal Candles were lit from the Paschal Candles and passed on to us by our sponsors/parents as a sign of the Faith being passed on. This was a lovely part of the ceremony.
Our Annual Christmas Badminton tournament is in full swing . It is played on a round -robin basis, so we get lots of games each. The finals will be held on Wednesday 21st December. There are four groups-6th Class Girls/6th Class Boys/5th Class Girls/5th Class Boys. The standard is quite high and the games are very competitive!
Our Christmas Carol Service will be held in St. Peter & Paul’s Church, Drumconrath on Friday 16th December. Please come to this as we are preparing hard and there is a wide variety of talent on display in this beautiful church setting.
We made some beautiful Christmas cards out of recycled materials. Have a look at these amazing creations on our website. Also on display are our “Colour Wheels”. We mixed primary colours to achieve secondary colours and then mixed all these new colours together to see what happens when colours “meet and merge”.
Congratulations to Niamh Dunne, who won the Water Slogan Competition . Her entry was very catchy! It read “HERE IN DRUMCONRATH SCHOOL, SAVING WATER IS OUR RULE!
Have a look at our beautiful Advent wreath, made by Breege Duff for our classroom. We put up a Christmas Tree and made some decorations. Our crib is central to all of this as it reminds us of the Birth of Jesus on Christmas Day.
The Silver Circle Draw was a huge success and over 4,400 euro was raised. A big thank you to all who supported this fundraiser!
