The Oak Tree by Louise Hickey
As I walked through the forest, close by the river, I closed over my jacket and started to shiver The birds in the tree tops, the wind whirling round, Peaceful as ever, for that was the only sound, As I walked up the mountain, down by the stream, I came across the oak tree, I visualised in my dream, ever so silent, all on its own But not once did it give out, not once did it moan It just stood big and tall Not once did it scream, not once did it call. I felt ever so bad living this pleasure For everything I got from this tree was a treasure So from that day on I visited the tree And didn't care if anyone laughed at me. So private, so peaceful, all on its own Life is so sad to treasure alone. Our school took part In the annual athletics competition in Claremont Stadium in Navan yesterday 11th June. We congratulate all pupils who took part in this. We say well done to Hannah Rooney who won a silver medal in the sprint! All school tours took place on Friday 6th June 2014. Ms. Kirk's and Ms. Keenan's class went to the Crystal Maze in Cavan, Mr. Hickey and Mrs. Tully's class visited to Let's Go Activity Camp in Gormanstown and Mrs. Rowe's class went to Tanagh Adventure Centre. A wonderful day was had by all!
