The stations this month are:
Role-Play - Children are exploring the story of Cinderella which we are covering in the Wonderland programme. We are using the language we have learned in Oral Language Development. New words to us have been carriage, coachman, limousine, stepmother, stepsister among many others. We have divided out the roles in the story, dressed up for our appropriate parts and used lines from the story to put on little role play pieces. It is great fun dressing up and we are learning about taking turns and sharing characters and dressing up items.
Maths - We are exploring the passing of time through the seasons with teacher. At this station we put picture cards of the seasons in chronological order. We then have another card game where we have items associated with the seasons and we sort them into appropriate categories. We then examine pictures of Autumn, discussing autumnal colours and colour them in.
Leaf Rubbing - Here the children are using autumnal colours to make prints using leaf rubbing. We are looking at all the different types of leaves from different trees e.g. oak, sycamore, horse chestnut tree. We then cut the leaves out and used them for our Autumn display.
Small World Play - Here children are pretending to be on the farm in Autumn. Our imaginations are having to work hard here. We are taking in the bales in preparation for Winter, using the combine to harvest the crops, picking apples in the orchard, making jam with the blackberries etc.
