Thank you to all the parents who have made this such an enjoyable experience for the pupils this year.
This month we learned about Spring and life on the farm during Spring time. Role Play: On the farm Small world: Farm mat, shed and lots of toy animals Construction: Blacks and Lego to built farms and animals Messy Play: Clay with tractors, trailers and other farm machinery Writing/ Art: The children wrote sentences from stories and also brainstormed their own sentences. They drew pictures to match The children read "The Great Explorer" by Chris Judge which tells the story of a young boy going on an adventure to the Arctic to rescue his dad. He sees lots of exciting things along the way like icebergs, The Northern Lights, a walrus and a even a polar bear! Role Play: The children headed off an adventure to the Arctic/ Antarctic Small World: The children played with lots of animals that can be found in the Arctic/ Antarctic Writing: The children wrote a sentence from the story and drew a picture to match. Art: The children used chalk to recreate the Northern Lights. They did a great job! Role Play: The children were helping Santa in his workshop to make lots of toys. Construction: The children built and decorated the Christmas tree. They also designed and built lots of Christmas toys using lego and playdough. Art: The children created snow scenes with chalk and black sugar paper and they also "Rudolfed Themselves" This month our theme was "Transport". We incorporated this theme into our Aistear and other subject areas. Role Play: Here are some pictures from our role play area "At the Garage" Small World Area: This area included a road rug, a wooden motorway and train track, a garage and a wide range of vehicles. Art: We also drew some maps to show places we visited and how we got there. Maths: We also used 2D shapes to draw some vehicles.
Today, Junior and Senior Infants planted some nasturtium seeds as part of our Aistear theme- The Garden Centre. We can't wait for them to grow!!!
We are learning about houses in Aistear this month. We have been acting in role on our construction site and using playdough to make some materials. We also read about the Three Little Pigs.
We were very lucky to have a visit from an aer hostess yesterday in class. We learnt lots of interesting facts about flying and life at Dublin airport. We really liked Colette's uniform. We now know aer lingus buys their planes from France. Thank you Colette for giving up your time to come talk to us.
This month we have been learning about clothes in Aistear. We have had lots of fun learning about the different parts of a shoe, looking at clothes we wear in each season, washing and drawing clothes. We had a dress up shop in class which we really enjoyed.
We collected lots of different Autumn items for our nature area. Thank you to all who brought in items. We have a great mixture of leaves, berries, acorns, grain, conkers and even a baby pumpkin.
