Today we made our own personal timeline using items from our past to show how we have grown. We talked about the different activities we did as a baby, toddle and what we like to do now. We took in three items to represent each of these stages and put them in chronological order. It was funny seeing our baby items, we had a great laugh seeing the dummies and a nappy! We had so much fun using the human number line today. As part of our Maths Improvement Plan we are concentrating on counting activities using the counting stick, number lines etc. We had to mix up the number line and then put it back in the right order. We also focused on what number came before and after a certain number e.g. tell me the number that comes before 3 and the number that comes after 3. It was tricky but we plan on practicing this a lot.
Ready Set Go is a maths initiative which we are implementing in the Infant Rooms. It aims to give children the opportunity to explore and grasp key mathematical skills through hands on activities. Children explore materials freely, see the teacher model mathematical thinking and language and in turn begin using mathematical language themselves. Take a look at our photos below where we are concentrating on matching and sorting activities. |
