Thanks to Muldoon's for facilitating us on Pension Day!! :)
We kept a "good secret" this week in class! We wrote a Christmas card to our parents and went to the Post Office to post them as a surprise for all the Mammy's and Daddy's!! It was so much fun getting to walk down to the Post Office. We have been learning all about how An Post work this week in class so it was exciting to go visit where the post man works. We had to put a stamp on our card to make sure it reached our homes. Take a look at our picture below.. Thanks to Muldoon's for facilitating us on Pension Day!! :) As we have been learning about Houses and Home for the month of November we thought it would be fun to look at a country far removed from our own -INDIA!!
WE have been learning about India with our visiting teacher Ms. O Sullivan. Ms. O Sullivan will be with us until Christmas. We love having two teachers in our room. She is teaching us lots of cool and interesting stuff! We spent a lot of time comparing and contrasting the two countries. Take a look at our pictures below.. In the first one you can see the Irish flag - we were comparing and contrasting it to a picture of the Indian flag In the other picture you can see Indian head scarves, spices and tea leaves and also an Indian elephant. This week and last week we are learning about 2 and 3 D shape. We are finding it quite ricky and confusing. some of the words are very hard to say.
The 2 D shapes we have learned are: square, rectangle, circle and triangle. The 3 D shapes we have learned are: cube, cuboid, sphere and cylinder. Below you can see different activities we did to learn and explore 2 D shapes. You can try spotting 2 D and 3 D shapes about your house to practice. We explored the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears in great detail during the month of November.
Here are some pictures of us exploring the story in the role play area. We really enjoyed using all the props and developing our mathematical language at the same time using the small, medium and large bowls and teddies. Our ability to get into role has greatly improved since we began Áistear time. It is our favourite station of the week! In the pictures you can also see some of our Literacy work. We learned all about the different rooms and parts of the house, we learned new words such as drainpipe, garage, tiles/slates etc. You can also see the lovely masks we made for use during role play. Here we also discussed the characteristics of each of the characters from the story. |
